It’s customary to have a baby shower before your first child, but did you know there’s something called a baby sprinkle when you have a second child?! Since you typically have all the essentials the second time around, the intent of a sprinkle is to pamper the mom.
Yesterday my Chicago besties ‘sprinkled’ me with brunch, a gift card to a luxurious spa, and most importantly love in preparation for the arrival of my second baby boy. It’s such a fun tradition, and I’m so lucky to have friends that make me feel so special.
I wore a thrifted dress worthy of the occasion by Peter Pilotto for Target. I found this dress about 4 months ago for $5 with the original tags in tact. Actually, I take that back, it was an additional 50% off! So I took it home for the bargain price of $2.50.
This dress was part of the Peter Pilotto Target collection that debuted on February 9th, 2014. For being 3 years old, the pieces are still very relevant today. The designers, Christopher De Vos and Peter Pilotto, are known for their complex and colorful prints. The collection featured both professional silhouettes and flirty dresses making it easy to infuse some cool into your workday and weekend wear.
This particular dress isn’t maternity, but looks super cuter with a bump thanks to the faux wrap design. The soft stretchy cotton is extremely comfortable, and like the rest of the Target collection, it’s really all about the print. It’s floral without being too girlie, and the colors are are vibrant but not overpowering.
I paired it with a thrifted Forever 21 jacket that I hunted for $9. It’s hard to see in the photos, but the bottom half is actually faux leather. This is both a cool design feature and a practical element, because it’s easy to keep the hem clean. Hope you like this look and had a great weekend! Xo!
