It’s a new year guys, but we’re still into old clothes. Lately, we’re focusing on essentials. Lucky for us, and women everywhere, 2017 fashion trends are still rooted in practicality – sneakers, backpacks, and quality functional pieces continue to reign.
Sometimes these items can be hard to hunt, because a) women tend to hang on to these items, and b) they get scooped up the second they hit the thrift store floor. But, if you’re dedicated (or overly competitive, like us), you can find them first.
A great example of an essential is this MARC by Andrew Marc cognac leather jacket. I recently hunted this bad boy during a special sale on ’boutique’ items at my local Salvation Army. Boutique items are typically held behind the cash register and priced higher. I don’t often buy them, because there’s no deal to be had…except when you catch them on sale.
A go-to short jacket is a wardrobe staple. It instantly elevates any outfit whether it’s a tee shirt or LBD. Today I paired it with some of my other favorite classic, easy, and thrifted items: my Gap striped tee, Pea in the Pod maternity jeans (DIY distressed), and Target leopard print flats.
Sorry to be a tease, but we already found this jacket a new home where it will be well loved and very happy. Want one of your own, but don’t have the option (or will) to pick through a thrift store? Try Tradesy, eBay, or Poshmark. Or, this is something that we would actually advocate to purchase new – as long as you love it. If you find a good one, it can last you a lifetime and there isn’t anything fast fashion about that.
