cute new accessory…

I did it. I survived another winter in Chicago. It’s now officially time to crawl out of hibernation and shed my puffy coat, wool sweater and gloves to reveal my pasty, translucent skin. Just like a Disney cartoon, I’m emerging from my cozy den with a little one in tow. Yes – I created a tiny human. His name is Maxwell and he’s perfect.

Many people have asked me what this addition means for The Hunt Shop and I find this question a bit frustrating, but also totally legitimate. Of course there are days when I’m totally a new mom cliché and I’m barely able to find time to brush my teeth, let alone go to a thrift store or sit down in front of a computer to write about it. DIY projects?  More like DDIY (Don’t Do It Yourself – thank you Instacart).

IMG_8496So, a small hiatus was necessary to focus all energies on keeping him (and me) alive for the first 12 weeks. Now that I’m fairly certain that we’re both going to make it, I’m ready to resume my life. While it looks very different from a year ago, it still includes THS. First and foremost, THS makes me happy and that is in everyone’s best interest. And is there a better life lesson for my little one than spending my time doing the things that I enjoy? I think not. Also, retaining my creative outlet dramatically reduces the likelihood of losing my sanity. You’re welcome, husband.

IMG_8273With that being said, Maxwell has undoubtedly changed my life forever. My priorities and lifestyle have shifted in the most profound, difficult and glorious ways. But let’s not forget, I still need to get dressed every day…well maybe not every day. AND I have a new mini-man that also needs to dress which means a new era of hunting!!!

My wonderful and supportive family and friends hooked me up with ton of adorable baby clothes, but now he’s changing rapidly and growing out of those clothes on the daily. If you know me, than you know that I’m not about to pay boutique or full retail prices for clothes that have the shelf life of an apple. So, now I am leaning IMG_8468on my finely-honed skill of thrifting to save my bank account from a swift and certain death while keeping Maxwell looking dapper. And I’ll be honest, it’s just as fun, if not more, than hunting for myself. And speaking of myself, momma’s body has changed, so I’m in the market for some new threads too 🙂
